Uncle Nearest's poster-in-chief is on watch as key hearing nears

One of the biggest stories in the whiskey business these days is American distillers’ struggles to deal with global glut at a time when much of the globe fucking hates America. The answer they’ve settled on so far is basically “idle production and see if that helps.” Maybe it will! But unless you’re a nerd for storage costs and the peculiarities of Kentucky’s barrel tax phaseout, it’s not particularly fun to ponder mid-flight. By contrast, the long and winding saga of Uncle Nearest Distilling’s court-ordered receivership is not one of the biggest stories in the segment at the moment, but it’s certainly the funniest to watch—and even more so now that the judge presiding over the case has warned co-founder/poster-in-chief Fawn Weaver to watch herself.
